Once upon a time...
I was born in Toronto, Canada in 1971. I grew up in a small city neighborhood on the edge of a ravine.
I spent much of my early summers on Manitoulin Island at our family cottage, dreaming up stories among the sugar maples, towering oaks and fragrant cedars on the shores of Lake Manitou.
These summers featured poetry-writing contests where I was often the organizer and only entrant. Meanwhile, back in the city I worked out my domestic concerns through rhyming gems such as If You Don’t Take a Shower, and The Don’t Do Dishes Caper of Bill deSuds.
